12:15 – 12:25 | Arrival, Context & Expectations (10 min)

Coach Brief:

  • Offensive principles:
    • Clear the lane
    • Make the effort
    • Keep the disc moving
  • Defensive principles:
    • Own your matchup
    • Close easy lanes
    • Shift as a unit
  • Side-line principles:
    • Be Supportive,
    • Choose someone, and help them, either with encouragement or direction. ("Take the IO", "Your match up is active")
  • Explain observer roles.
    • Observers will be watching all of the session.
    • Don't be intimidated (a decision isn't going to be made based on a single mistake in the warm up)
    • Play the game, not the drill. (All drills are designed to be a smaller imitation of a game like scenario, if you don't play your part, no-one gains anything.)

Observer focus:

  • Engagement - With Play style and drill set up.
  • Communication - With other players, how are they communicating
  • Composure - is their attitude consistent, can then keep calm.

Main Focus:

  • Players moving the disc, anyone looking off an easy first pass for no reason gets a mark in the bad column.

  • Make another pass in the endzone - play continues from where they are, not bringing it to the front.
  • Immediate transition after turnover.

Observer focus:

  • Consistency
  • Defensive effort late
  • Leadership and communication
